St Maartin Relaxes COVID Rules

Good news from St Maartin. Beginning last Tuesday, March 1, fully vaccinated visitors, as well as those who have recovered from COVID-19 in the last nine months, are no longer required to show proof of a negative test upon arrival. All guests, even those passing through for cruises or to other islands, must still complete a health pre-authorization form and upload vaccination or recovery documentation as early as 72 hours before arrival. Please see www.stmaartenentry.com for the form.

Italy to Drop Entrance COVID Tests for Vaccinated Visitors

On March 1st Italy will conform with most European countries adopting vaccinated status rather that country of origin to determine entrance requirements. Under the new proposed rules, documented vaccinated visitors will be allowed to enter Italy for tourism without the need to take a pre-arrival COVID test or face quarantine. The approved vaccination must be taken within 270 days of travel.

On February 22, Roberto Speranza, Minister of Health of Italy, wrote on his official Twitter account: “for arrivals from all non-European countries, the same rules will be in force as already provided for European countries. One of the conditions of the green pass will be sufficient for entry into Italy: vaccination certificate, recovery certificate, or negative test.”

The United States still requires for entry a negative COVID test result from an approved antigen or PCR test taken within 24 hours of travel to the USA. The American Society of Travel Advisors, of which Go Bucket List Travel is a member agency, continues to lobby for the CDC to drop this requirement and conform with the new EU rules allowing vaccinated travelers to enter the USA without having to undergo a test prior to boarding their flights.

To be considered vaccinated, a traveler must have received one of the vaccines approved for use by the European Medicines Agency or the World Health Organization, provided that the last vaccine dose has been received within the last 270 days prior to arrival in Italy.
