EU COVID Entry Requirements Developments

New European COVID Entry Requirements as of February 2, 2022

Effective yesterday, February 1, the Council of the European Union recommended that member states update their current travel restrictions to recognize a traveler’s COVID-19 vaccination status.

Traveling within 270 days after receiving your last shot will become an important EU milestone for being considered fully vaccinated. In some cases, travelers coming from outside the E.U./Schengen Area must still show a negative test result, even if they have proof of vaccination.

Following the recommendations, Denmark is now open to all travelers without quarantine who can validate they have been vaccinated within 270 days, have received a booster dose or were recently infected and recovered.

Starting today, February 2, fully vaccinated travelers to the Netherlands will not have to quarantine if they received a booster at least seven days prior to travel. Non-EU members must still show a negative test prior to entry into the country.

As of January 22, Switzerland has allowed fully vaccinated travelers entering Switzerland from the United States and Canada
to enter without a pre-arrival test.

Since early January, vaccinated visitors to England are no longer required to provide proof of a negative PCR test. Currently, vaccinated travelers entering England have to take a COVID test within two days of arrival, but according to a BBC report, that requirement will also be dropped soon.

Meanwhile, Italy will continue to be in a State of Emergency until March 31, 2022. Travelers from the USA must fill in the passenger locator form, undergo COVID-19 testing within 72 hours before reaching the country, and show a Digital COVID-19 Certificate or an equivalent vaccination document.

We will continue to pass along information concerning country entry rules as we receive it. Please call us at Go Bucket List Travel - 804-557-3006, for the latest guidance.
